VoxMotoChat is a free (ad-free, no account registration required) modern voice chat app designed for motorcyclists and anyone travelling in a group. Chat with your group no matter the distance - wherever mobile internet is available.
The app has been designed with real-world road conditions in mind. Unstable signal, tunnels, forests, mountains or temporary loss of internet connection don't have to mean the end of the conversation. VoxMotoChat automatically maintains and restores the connection, so you can enjoy the ride and concentrate on the road.

The app is currently in the closed beta testing phase. Would you like to sign up?

VoxMotoChat is a free, ad-free app designed for both personal and commercial use that does not require you to create an account.
Works with any Bluetooth intercom (and headset) connected to your phone, providing convenient communication, it natively supports 16 kHz HD Voice technology but also supports the 8 kHz Bluetooth SD standard.
Full communication encryption and end-to-end (E2EE, the technologies used include, for example: Ed25519, X25519, ChaCha20-Poly1305) audio encryption ensure a high level of privacy. "Zero trust server" model: server relay encrypted audio packets but cannot decrypt or listen to conversations.
The app operates stably even with high latency, packet loss, and temporary network outages, it automatically reestablishes the connection when coverage is restored and has been optimized for low data usage.
Voice notifications inform you of events, such as when someone in the group answers or ends a phone call.
Independent adjustment of call volume and microphone sensitivity (AGC settings).
The built-in AI model (Silero) detects speech and only begins transmitting once speech is detected (speech detection sensitivity can be adjusted in the settings), which saves data and reduces battery consumption while preventing the transmission of background noise and engine sounds.
The app supports audio ducking and plays notifications such as those from GPS navigation (and other apps) at the appropriate volume. How does it work? When the navigation app wants to play a message during a call, the voice chat volume is lowered, the navigation app plays the message and once it's finished, the voice chat volume returns to full volume. This ensures you won't miss important messages from your navigation app or other apps.
Anyone can set up and host their own server (even on a local network) that the app will connect to (the app allows you to configure the server it will connect to). The server application is available for free, with no fees and no registration required. You can run the server in your region (on own home server, VPS, dedicated server, Raspberry Pi/Orange Pi) to minimize latency when communicating with the server, thereby minimizing audio delays in voice chat and improving your experience with the app and voice chat.

VoxMotoChat was created for situations where standard messaging apps often fall short. Thanks to its built-in communication mechanisms, the app copes well with the frequent fluctuations in connection quality typical of motorbike journeys. You don’t need to manually reconnect to the server after a temporary loss of internet connection, the app will do it for you.

Communication security was one of the project’s main objectives.
Communication with the server is encrypted using modern cryptographic algorithms and the voice stream is further protected by end-to-end encryption (E2EE) exclusively between group members. This means that only the participants in the conversation can decrypt the content - not even the server has access to the decrypted audio.
In encrypted rooms, audio/voice is encrypted directly on the phone and can only be decrypted by the other participants in the room. The server acts solely as a "relay/router" for the encrypted data and does not possess the keys to decrypt the audio, which means that no one (not even the server administrators) can eavesdrop on your conversations.
Each connection session generates new, unique and ephemeral encryption keys. Even if the keys from a single session were compromised in the future (which is, in itself, mathematically extremely difficult), this would not allow for the decryption of any conversations held in the past or in the future.
VoxMotoChat uses state-of-the-art algorithms resistant to modern attacks:
VoxMotoChat prevents third parties from intercepting or modifying transmissions/packets/conversations thanks to multi-layered verification (applies only to servers visible in the app's server list):
No unnecessary data is required to start a conversation.
The implemented packet sequence tracking mechanisms prevent the interception and resending of the same data in order to disrupt the transmission or impersonate a participant in the conversation.
VoxMotoChat is based on proven cryptographic libraries like: Bouncy Castle, Go Crypto.
Create your own chat rooms, invite your friends and chat freely on every ride. VoxMotoChat lets you enjoy the ride whilst staying in constant contact with your group.

A voice chat app designed for motorcyclists (and others). Whether you're riding in a group along winding mountain roads or travelling along urban or rural routes, VoxMotoChat will ensure voice communication between you and your fellow riders, provided your phone has mobile data coverage. Don't worry, though, because even if you lose your internet connection for a moment (whether briefly or for a little longer), the app will automatically re-establish a connection to the server as soon as possible (once network connectivity is restored), and you'll be able to continue your conversation
VoxMotoChat incorporates technologies such as:
I spent a long time looking for a suitable app for communicating whilst riding a motorbike, but unfortunately I couldn't find one (they all had some sort of flaw or serious shortcoming). That's why VoxMotoChat was created, for me and the friends I ride with. As the project developed and the app became stable enough, a decision has been taken to make VoxMotoChat available to all motorcyclists. Perhaps someone else will find it just as useful as my friends and I do.
